I can't donate so my not so precious little 5 minutes of addon updating can be useful to creators. The only reason i'm going to use Overwolf (which i don't like at all) is because i want to support addon creators. Comment by Easyrok on T11:04:30-06:00Īnother one here to say I use WowUp instead. Worst case scenario I can use adblockers on the website to prevent all the annoying ads from the site while getting my addons.

They can pay for all the advertising in the world I'll manually download and install addons before I ever use its app. Overwolf was bloatware when I tried it back in the day. Otherwise, browse Curse, WowInterface, or TukUI and find what you want there, then keep it updated with WowUp. The experience of finding new addons could be improved (mostly by adding categories), but if you know the name of an addon, it's simple to search for it. Otherwise, it's great for updating addons, which is what most people want it to do. A good example would be ElvUI addons, many of which are on Curse and TukUI. The only thing WowUp is missing is a way to set a preferred source for addons that are hosted in multiple databases. Wowup is total but so is this, all you Wowup shills need to stfu. I'll give a second try to acidweb, I want less apps but still 123 addons :) Comment by Siscokid on T10:56:34-06:00 I must admit that in 2020, playing Wow often brings the player to install some 3rd party software, Discord, Twitch, Tukui, WeakAuras, I used minion.gg because Wholly/grail were not correctly handled by twitched. The war against 3rd party clients has begun Comment by Sangfoudre on T10:55:33-06:00 Why do you guys think it's invasive/malware? Honest question, i want to know if i need to stop using it. Honestly, i've used Overwolf for some time for Starcraft and Path of Exile and i've seen very few ads.

I'll stick with open source free alternatives. Nope, Wowup all the way not gonna use this junk add shady stuff Comment by Basurci2 on T10:46:12-06:00 And if they block access via WoWUP, ill stop using curse addons and move to WoWInterface.Īnd if addon makers dont move to wowinterface - well, i guess ill just stop using their addons and find alternatives.

Probably easier to download the updates myself manually. Twitch Streaming package was already too much. Also why do i need to download a wow component in that app? It should be a "update my addons " tool for all supported games out of the box.

The amount of companies that are intrested in profiling me is scary. So no need to use intrusive overwolf software. Nothing prevents you from doing research on the curse forge site and then downloading / updating with wowup. WoWup has no categories, no sorting options or filters in the search, and finding a new addon that actually works or is updated is impossible in WoWup.Īlso, the addon makers won't get a penny from WoWup while Overwolf Curseforge actually pays their addon makers. Great wow addon manager, better than the Twitch and the WoWup with its limited functions. Those suggestions and feedback become our roadmap, so please continue sharing! We’re reading through all the concerns, comments, and feedback shared online and on our ideas portal. We’re also dedicated to staying transparent around the challenges we face, and our long-term vision for CurseForge.

In our view, the way to get there is through open discussion with both mod authors and gamers alike, and to develop CurseForge in full transparency - as shared on our public roadmap board. We are building CurseForge as the home for all mod authors, and as a result a wonderful discovery platform for gamers. So thank you again for helping us shape the future of CurseForge! Over the alpha testing period we got hundreds of app feedback notes, made dozens of fixes and additions, and ended up with a smoother flow and experience. Thousands of gamers and creators inspected the app closely, shared feedback, and helped us make it more streamlined.
Today’s launch is a great opportunity to extend our MASSIVE gratitude to everyone who tested the CurseForge app during the alpha. Basically, it’s the same CurseForge you know and love, now in a dedicated app just for discovering and managing addons. We drew inspiration from the original Curse client, and designed the new app to feel both familiar and intuitive. Since then, we’ve been hard at work creating the new CurseForge app from the ground up using the Overwolf framework.
